Date(s) Skied: Friday, March 3, 2009
Resort or Ski Area: Killington
Conditions: Bluebird sun. Teens main mountain. Around 20 at Bear. Very flat. Very fast
Trip Report:
Arrived at 1:00. Gone at 2:15. Skied the things that were roped off yesterday. Double Dipper. Lower Skyelark. Panic Button to Needles Eye. Outer Limits. The surface was mostly edgable sugar snow with ice patches. It may have been OK at 9:00 but it was pretty beat up with Friday traffic by 1:00.
I also skied the gauntlet from Skyeburst to Lower Wildfire. The big event has Lower Skyeburst (formerly lower Bear Claw) and lower Dream Maker roped off so everything funnels onto Lower Wildfire. Lower Wildfire didn't even have sugar snow on skier's left and I skied by two different downed skiers surrounded by sled dogs and ambassadors. I asked and both were due to collisions. No surprise. This weekend, Outer Limits and Bearly are the only two safe ways to access the event.
