I would not be surpised by K making snow tonight. What's the wet bulb going to be? Still does not help until they can make it at the bottom anyway IMO.

Snow making crews have been hired and are ready to go at a few places. I hope they fire up and it fuels competition. Maybe he has a snowmaking contact. Lets see what tomorrow brings.

Killington doesn't wait for winter, winter waits for killington.

Scotty in Star Trek often says “Ye cannae change the laws of physics.” This is untrue. Killington can change the laws of physics. With its snowmaking.

The ground isn't frozen. Was Mount Snow making snow on Launch Pad on frozen ground? No.

In 1985 Killington developed it own signature snow guns, the K3000 and the K2000 which are still used today and remain as the most versatile guns in the arsenal with the ability to produce snow in temperatures as high as 34 degrees.

Right....but you forget to mention that it would probably take them 2 weeks and over a million dollars in diesel fuel if they tried to do it at 34 degrees....lol

You've said yourself that the K2k/3k are being phased out in favor of the ratnicks (and HDK rangers, more use of the tower guns, and mobile fan guns). But they are still useful at very low temps where no air is required, from what I understand.

Currently the K3000 is still the work horse at Killington. However at very low temperatures, the Low E guns produce tons of snow.

There were better snowmaking conditions last week..yes it's getting colder but it's a more humid cold which will keep the Wetbulb up..Snowman who used to post on here gave me alot of snowmaking knowledge..

Can Hunter produce more snow in 24 hours of cold weather than Killington???
No. At least not in absolute terms.I wonder how they compare as a percent of total terrain, though?

Search Highway Star's posts (here and on KZ) for all there is to be known about Killington's snow making capacity. Hunter has a blurb about theirs on the web site.

But, given that, once Hunter fires up the guns, everyone knows it's for real. Have to admit, those pictures are an impressive sight.

Maybe 3 years ago, but not so much anymore. I see them being phased out in favor of a variety of snowguns.

They seemed to have had water pressure problems in the last few years of ASC, and used the K3000's much more since they are basicly a firehose with little pressure drop compared to other guns. Now that the pipes have been repaired, they run the fixed tower guns much more often where they have them. We also seem to see more HKD Rangers in average conditions.

Last year, they seemed to use the K3000's in random fill in spots, and at warmer temps.
