got a dilema. i have a bunch of gift cards for asc resorts and with the threads i've read it doesnt sound like may 7th closing may even happen. andy/beano/trailboss/roark or anyone who skis there regularly, how does it look for superstar? Thinking i should just buy some crap at the Mt Snow ski shop this sunday and use up my $'s in case i dont get to killington before they close. Snow is closing on the 8th apparently so i wont be back there again.

Sorry Pat, but believe it or not, I skied Killington twice in the past month. The last time I skied was this past Sunday and that was only for about 2 hours. Didn't look bad, but then again, they got 4" overnight so it covered a lot of thin spots. They do have cover, but it is thin, so a lot will depend on the coming month's weather. It is hard to believe how much they lost since last week :(

Edit: Just remembered, they did stockpile snow on top of Superstar when I was up there 2 weeks ago.

Well, the new forecasts are calling for temps with HIGHS in the 30s-40s for the week of April 4th in Rutland, if that happens...you could see lots of natural snow at K, and a good chance of lasting until May 7th.

A week of truly warm weather will kill off most of the mountain. There is no base in key places like the Cascade runout, lower Bunny Buster, and lower Chute. It's the least snow I've ever seen blown on Superstar. May 1 could very well be "some walking required".

thats what i was afraid of. the rot in the usual places could come much earlier if they didnt blow much snow.

Big bunch of jerks.... ;-)

They really did let it go this year...guess the sale played a huge role...why not go out with a bang though...? Hope the new owners return Killington to its former glory as the "beast of the east"

In reality, there is no reason for the to go out with a bang. That would cost them money and would in now way help their profits. ASC is still a business and has to worry about the bottom line.

Don't save your vouchers for the Mount snow ski shop. I was there this weekend and both the main base lodge shop and the one in the Grand Summit hotel were almost totally cleaned out. They had a 50% off sale and stuff went fast. They were stocking the shops on Sunday with t-shirts and other summer stuff! There were some face masks , gloves mittens, sunglasses and goggles left at great prices though. Just not much clothing left.

while part of me actually agrees with this, the line for the old double used to exceed 30 minutes on busy weekends. and it was one long, windy and cold ride.

Yup, what he said. Natural trails are going fast. There is a small hump at the top of superstar, nothing like in years past.

I really hope that you are kidding....it's ASC who didn't blow any snow, because they don't care since they aren't running the resort next year.
