Saw this and couldn't pass up reposting it....evidently he hasn't gotten the memo that Killington is at an all time low in skier visits and has excess lift capacity.

Wish? We could start all over again with all that great terrain and not cut half the trees down and cover the place with lifts this time.... But from where we sit now...
Sunrise Mtn. : Replace full length from W. Bridgewater to current top with HSQ. Long term, consider Gondola from base to Little Killington summit. Reopen Sunrise Liftline Trail. Reroute Juggernaut to its original routingeast of the top terminal of the Sunrise Triple.

Bear Mtn. : Remove crossovers O.L. Express, Space Walk, and the unnamed ones from Outer Limits to Devil's Fiddle. Open Devil's Fiddle liftline as a trail. Arrange Juggernaut to not need a walk across the Bear Mtn. parking lot.

South Ridge: Replace Triple with HSQ from existing base farther up to summit, ending just above Boomerang last below the true summit. Cut trails to the sharp bend in Boomerang, the Cascade Headwall and Catwalk. Plant trees near old midstation to make one simple crossing between Pipe Dream and Escape/Wanderer

Skye Peak Face: Restore 4-Mile trail name and route, removing as many multiplexes as possible and cutting new route from Dream Maker to where it crosses Great Eastern. Restore Great Eastern to its 90's routing, before it overtook Wanderer, Frost Line and Shagback and after it was routed away from the Superstar face.

Needle's Eye Face: Remove Needle's Eye HSQ, plant trees at crossovers at the top of that lift and bottom of Panic Button, making the old liftline one sustained trail from Bittterswet to the Northbrook Base excepting Snowshed Crossover, same for Vertigo. Restore old Northbrook Trail in addition to Scooter. Close crossover from top of Thimble to Skyeburst, plant trees.

Gondola Base: Cut a trail from the top of Snowshed/the Highridge Trail to the Gondola Base.

Snowshed: Remove 2 double chairs, install a HSQ on Yodler and Low Road starting as near to the pedestrian tunnel as possible to an elevation just above the top of the Snowshed HSQ. Plant a row of trees down the snowmaking line on Snowshed Slope.

Superstar Face: Route Highlander around the parking lot side of KBL on a gently sloping wall-retained fill directing traffic downhill to the K-1 base. Fill would have a tunnel through it for pedestrian traffic between the lodge and the parking lot. Replace Superstar Chair on a new line from as near to the K-1 base as possible to as near to the Skyeship summit as possible. Restore To Great Eastern & Nivis Walk to improve access to Superstar Trails. Close all crossovers except Launch Pad and High Road.

Killington Peak: Build Skyeship 3rd stage to Killington Peak, ending immediately adjacent to K-1 summit. Demolish old summit gondola terminal and replace summit lodge. With South Ridge lift extended to the summit, close Home Run, FIS and Low Traverse, Plant trees.

Glades: Restore East and West Glades and put some trees on them. Return East Fall to below the Glades Complex only.

Snowdon Mtn. : Replace triple with HSQ moving top terminal closer to Poma. Remove quad and build new HSQ from the Ram's Head base as near as possible to the pedestrian tunnel to the top of Snowdon as near as possible to the summit of the other new lift without crossing the Poma line. Build two trails besides the liftline roughly paralelling this lift, possibly extensions of Great Bear and Northstar.

Ram's Head: Cut extension of Swirl from where it merges into the liftline to the base. Extend HSQ to the summit. Open a new base on the big bend of Killington Road and install a HSQ and trails from there to the Ram's Head summit. Extend Vale and the Vale parking lot down to this new base.

Beyond... : Scrap original interconnect expansion plan and develop the ridge between Ram's Head and Pico. Run HSQ's from the new base mentioned above to the peak above Little Pico Pond, From the pond to that peak, and from the pond to the summit of Pico. Expand summer offerings based on Little Pico Pond.

Outside of beating a dead horse here, I think the majority of that wish list is quite silly...and far from reality.

Well...that was sort of what that thread became.

I see a lot of new HS lifts in that wish list, and the removal of Needles HSQ (which doesn't see that much use).

and who cares about Sunrise and the Juggernaut..nobody skis that..

Lower Sunrise and current Sunrise are two different things. Sunrise used to run all the way down to the highway, and the part from the midstation down isn't flat, and has/had some nice runs/terrain. (although relatively short, and doesn't hold snow that well.)

oh give me a break miller. you were like, what, 5 when they closed the northeast passage. there isnt anything worth getting worked up about over there. If anyone remembers, to get there, you had to ski b.s. trails for 1/2 an hour to reach it. then, if you wanted to ski the so called "steep" terrain, you had to unload at the midstation, which provided about 600 feet of vert at best, most of which was still flat. and then, to get out, you had to ride that gawd awful lift up and down and then back up to the base of bear, basically, then take another lift to get to anything worth skiing.

I used to park there when i was first coming up. In 1984. It took me all of about 3 trips to realize what a waste of time it was. The best thing about it was the lodge was empty. for a reason. If i was of legal age back then, i could see a reason to be upset. you could probably grab a barstool at any hour of the freakin day. outside of that, what was the point of it.

I've skied it. I know. Around the same vert as South Ridge. Now then, I only mentioned that because of GSS's comment, as I assumed he was thinking of Sunrise as the current form. (Completely flat).

What really sucks is their out of bounds skiing policy. They could learn a lot from Jay Peak.

The party line is skiing unmarked woods is the same as ducking a rope = lose your pass.

No it's not. Killington has a boundary-to-boundary "the woods are fair game as long as you don't duck a rope" policy.

The only thing they're going to try to enforce is skiing in the direction of Cooper's Cabin and down the west side of the mountain. They're getting tired of morons getting lost down by Wheelerville Road. I'm sure if you show up with AT gear and tell them you have a ride down at Brewer's Corner, even that won't be an issue.
