I don't think they will have any problem conceeding to Jay this year as it's a one off. Nothing to really prove. We're lucky they made as much snow as they did in the Canyon IMO.
Hmmm. No, they will have a problem.

All the who's down in Who - Ville building their snow. Hoping to ski until the mud rivers flow.

Jay Peak. North, Lake Effect snow. All the who's up in who vill. ??????????????????

The latest on the snow report last day Saturday
"
Mother Nature has not been kind these past few days, but we are optimistic about reopening Saturday for what will likely be the final day of the season. That said, we will remain closed Friday to preserve the snow and give our grooming team time to work their magic.

We are expecting a fair amount of rain tomorrow and when we do reopen, terrain will be for advanced and expert skiers and riders only. Please note, walking will be required. If youโ€™re up for an adventure, you will be able to get what are likely the final turns of the season this weekend.

Ticket proceeds from Saturday will be donated and matched to Whaleback Mountain in support of its chairlift replacement project, tickets will be $30 per person. Midweek Pass holders are welcome to join us this Saturday, too"

Forecast looks terrible โ€ฆ wish they had done the same as Jay and waited to Sunday to reopen. Guess they were afraid nothing would be left ? What if they had taken all the extra snow made in the canyon this year including all the connector trails and runout etc and instead built up a ridiculous base on Outer Limits ? I like the simple one-chair setup at Bear with the bar and deck at the bottom where you can watch the action but I guess the exposure/elevation at Bear isnโ€™t good for spring snow retention ?

Looks ugly up there today. Jay may be a better option tomorrow but I'm not making the trek just for Jet. Have fun to anyone braving the elements!

I wonder even if they did the usual Superstar build how long they would've actually made it this year. Would've needed 3 more weeks to make June.

Ahh, we had one of those October days at SR this past season ๐Ÿ˜
Ah should have said โ€œstartโ€, not open. A marginal, short โ€œweโ€™re technically openโ€ is not what I meant. I meant an old fashion open and stay open early start. That hasnโ€™t occurred in a while.

What was will be again. With Killington building a resort to compete with the West. You'd think another mountain would step up and challenge for the longest season. Killington is further South than others. Has the elevation and the money. Hard to unseat the Beastie.

It's better than I expected today, east fall has good cover all the way down to the bottom. You just have to walk the last 100 yds to the lift. Dipper is open with a few walking sections. You can ski off the lift to upper downdraft to GN. There's still a good amount of snow to move around, I wouldn't be surprised if they open again tomorrow.
Superstar definitely would have gone longer but it's anyone's guess how much longer
