I just thought I would try and get the hiking forum moving with my trip report to Lafayette ! We started the day at 6am in Amesbury MA. and got on the road for the two an a half hour drive to Lafayette place. We got to the Old bridle path trail head around 8:30 and we were on the trail by 8:45. The trail was broken out and there was no need for snowshoes though we carried them anyway. The snow was soft so crampons were not needed either. The first couple of miles was easy going but the last .09 miles to the hut required som kicking step's. We ate lunch on the porch at greenleaf hut, where my hands started to get really cold, so we got moving toward the summit. The rest of the hike to the summit was kind of slow going because of low visibility(no views). We finally reached the summit at about 1:30 and surprise, no views oh well. We started on our way down shortly after. The hike down the summit cone was a bit challenging because of the low visibillity, it was pretty much cairn to cairn. We got back to the hut pretty quck drank a little water and started down. We had alot of fun boot skiing and but sliding on the steeps and then it was a quick hike through the woods to the parking lot. All in all it was a fun day and with no skiing in my forcast due to my wife being on call, an all around great way to spend the day! We only saw about eight people all day and only on person doing the loop, pretty good for a sunday!
