Well, I'm a woman, so naturally... I don't pay too much attention to the emblems on the "toys" my husband buys... but I do know that it's green and loud and I've never used it :)

I was going to push for the John Deere after the tax check came. But after this winter I had to go with the snow blower. I just picked up a 10 hp Arlens that was only used one season. At least I have my priorities straight. I need to shovel less and ski more. Next year the allusive John Deere will be mine. Don't you just love things with engines?

I wonder how the snowthrower attachments work on the JD tractors...

I was steered away from the JD attachments and bought a separate 11HP 24" snowthrower. If the area you intend to remove snow from has any kind of a grade to it the JD will just sit there and spin the tires.

That was my original plan. But what you said about the grade is what made me break out the purchase into a thrower and a mower. I don't mind walking the 1.1 acres of grass, but those late season snow storms had me doing 2 - 3 shifts to remove the snow by myself.

Good point.

Actually, I was kidding a bit...my tractor is in an area off of the garage and I'd have to pull my car out of the garage to get it out. Not exactly convenient in the wintertime.

I am overdue for a new snowthrower...my 8HP Home Depot special is 12 years old and I've never been thrilled with it. Guess I'm just too cheap to get a new one if it's still running though.

I thought this was how to get my 12 yo son to mow the yard without threatening to cut off his food supply.

But seriously sharpen the blade, get a new tire and gas cap (how do you lose a gas cap off of a lawn mower?). I have a 6 ish yo yard man 22" deck 6.5 hp mulching that runs great and a 19.5 deck honda that is around 20 yo that I inherited that also runs great.
