New boots make a huge difference.
Be patient and let said new boots break in over several ski days.
There's fun skiing to be found at just about any area.
Bike commute more.

Yup! Take what the mountain gives you!

I found that if you go to a mountain with expectations too high then you leave feeling incomplete if certain terrain was not available - so I found that I should enjoy the day and the time out and not so much whether I am challenged or not. Granted, if there is not much vertical to work with things can get boring really fast.

I always use the moto - Take what the mountain gives you! Well in that vien, I was needing to move my lawn (1.25 acres of moving) and my tractor's steering is slipping. So I had to push mow it which sucks but what it gave me in return - exercise, used less than a gallon of gas vs 3 with my tractor and the lawn actually looks better.

So sometimes lessons learned on the slopes can be applied to life in general!
