Loon Mtn Sat Dec 16th
Conditions. Wet Packed to Loose frozen Granular
Temps low 30's up top High 30's at the base.
NCP at the Base snow sleet mixed at the top ot the Gondola. Gondola to North Peak light snow most of the morning.
Started out week. Had princess parking to get my son set up for his Seasonal program, but turned around when I saw I left the ski bag back at the Condo.
Called my Bride to meet me 1/2 way to make the exchange. Shaky start at best. Got my son in his program at 9 and headed out. I had parked in the Lot Twice by 8.45.
Only so many ways you can do Picked Rock and Flying Fox, but I found them. Brookway was nice. I love the little brook when its running. Lower Picked Rock was really in nice shape. Really did not get to crowded. The North Peak was open off Sunset and had a fairly decent wind blowing upward. Actually made the Run nice. Longest line was the Gondola(Surpise) 5 min in the singles line.
This was the 1st day of the Season I skied after lunch. Pretty much 9 to 3 with a short lunch break. I hung at camp 3 outside. (I was the only one) The clouds started to part I saw a few spots of blue sky..
Most of the day was really foggy and wet, but I had a great Day. Snow held up well except on the tough corner off Flying fox, that got ugly. hit some Granite. Looks like they are ready to do the Haul Back to Lower Walking Boss and Cross Cut to the Double with guns ready to go. I would think 7 brothers will get some love in the short term also. The snow they made a week ago on upper Bear Claw has held up. I would think a day of two on that and it will be ready to go as well. All the talk of the sale seems to be a non factor. Just Debt gone and cash in. The new Bar at Babes does offer a better view. Two new nice TV's coming today. I'm ready for vacation week. Know we need some cold and Snow.
