Skied Magic on Saturday. My sister and her b/f were up from NYC for the wknd so I wanted to bring them to Magic to show them around. The rain hit Magic pretty hard on Friday. Lots of bent limbs on the iced up trees riding up the Red Chair. Only the snowmaking trails with grooming were available. While the other routes were tecnically not roped off it made zero sense to attempt them given how locked up everything was.
We spent the AM running down Magic Carpet, Trick, Wand to Hocus Pocus. There was a college race all day on ShowOff. I think the upper part or Magic Carpet skied the best and the little section beyond Trick was ok as well.
Trick was getting pretty hairy by late morning as there was a split in the snowpack that made for a waterbar/dirt/rock section that patrol staked off.
Had a couple cold ones at lunch and a burger (love the rotating beer taps, something different to try every week!)
After lunch the sun came out real nicely and we skied Upper Wizard to Talisman which had been getting groomed all AM.
This was nice especially the ride over to Talisman as the snow/ice on the trees made a nice canopy on the narrow trail and a nice backdrop over the bluebird sky. Nice views of Bromley and Stratton as well over here on the West Side.
Magic needs some natural snow badly to get things really going over there. It will come and when it does, it will be real good
