If skiing the East Side Red is better...west side=Blac
Easier access to black coming from Wizard, Talisman, etc to hop back up on Black....similarly if you are coming down Show Off or anything on the East side I'd just as soon grab Red then skate/pole up/across to Black.

Best wishes to your daughter. I want to see her on the USSA development team next year!

Thanks Billski! Based on her current age group in the Southern VT Council, if she has 2 solid runs, she'll be 5th or 6th out of about 40-45 starters. And next year when she'll still be a U10, all of the girls that are currently ahead of her will be U12's, so she's already quite psyched for next year as she continues to try and close the gap between her and as they're referred to as the "fab 5" that usually finish ahead of everyone else (this year it's been about a 2 second gap between the 2 girls who usually trade 1st and 2nd places and the 3 girls who usually trade 3rd through 4th or 5th and then about a second gap to where my daughter has been finishing. The top 2 finishers are from basically SoVT skiing dynasty families who have family members over the years that have made it all the way to the US Ski Team, and basically already have spots set aside for them at Stratton Mountain School, Burke Mtn Academy or Green Mountain Valley School  Even as 10yr olds, they're freakin FAST!!!

Is one or two second gap pretty De-rigeur for a U10? How are the courses set? GS I presume? Is one of the dynasties you are talking about out of Richmond? Go get 'em. Are you traveling to comps now?
