Hey All,
I'm back from a fun session at Blue mountain. There was only about 1 inch of very wet snow here in Allentown when I left at 6:35AM. I made a quick stop at Sheetz for gas and then on to the True mountain. I arrived in the lower lot around 7:10AM..and I did a few donuts in the unplowed sections of the parking lot. Then I parked next to Toast and Booted up. We hit the snow around 7:28AM..and skated to the 6-pack. Unfortunately they released the guys from the upper lodge early so there were a few chairs of people ahead of us.
Challenge was sa weet..about 3 inches of medium density snow on the top part and maybe 2 inches of heavier snow on the bottom. There are now bumps on the skiers right side of challenge. We skied a second run on Challenge before it got totally trakced out..then headed to Main Street for untracked along the right side of Barneys bumps..wow that was really nice. Then back at the top, I waited a minute for Nastar Glenn, M-Bike Mike, and Noxidee and went to Barneys bumps and I gave M-Bike Mike honors on the right side of Barneys and there were just two sets of tracks from me and Toast. Another sweet powder run. Then it was time to hit Sidewinder and ski parts of the marquee route under the 6-pack. The section to the left of the stairs that ended on Lazy Mile was mad sweet..I dropped between the little trees..jibbed off a little stump..and then a couple sweet poe turns. Then I skied the section to the right of the big booter under the sixer which was good for about 8 or so nice turns. Each time I skied under the lift..I got hoots and hollers and warnings from Red Coats. I think Knuckle-Dan saw me hit a big rock from above. During the course of the session..I hit the two sections of the lower marquee route at least 4-5 times. I also skied off trail to the right of the halfpipe..two times almost to the little pond..very thin coverage down below.
Razors edge was closed for races so Challenge was a clusterf$ck of people and the bumps made things even tighter. Plus the patrollers were on it training which added to the conjestion. Paradise was nice and we definitely found some fresh on the sides..Noxidee was whistled at by one of the redcoats. We lost Glenn at some point and M-Bike Mike joined one of his buddies. Me and Noxidee skied over to Burma which had about 1,000 noobs which made for a fun human slalom course and we were able to find a few fresh turns on the side. Then up the Burma chair and a run down Raceway for a few more fresh turns on the side to Chute to lower Main Street to shuttle to the lower park. We ran into Knuckledragger and Toast and skied a park run with them and I hit the lower marquee route one final time..then a final run down Crazy Mile. I skied 20 runs in total including 19 off the six-pack and one off the burma chair for a total of 20,750 vertical feet. By this point it was almost 11:00AM and the snow was pretty sticky with the above freezing temperatures and sunshine.
Noxidee, myself and Knuckle-Dan proceeded to the Blue mountain drive inn. Dan rocked a Belgium waffle, Noxidee and fresh sausage and steeze omelatte and I had bacon and eggs and like 3 cups of coffee. With warm temps today and cold temperatures tonight..the snow is going to be hella fast tomorrow morning. I can't wait..Today was definitely one of the best days at Blue this season..Holla
