for the most part eagle shouldnt be a black its a blue but got a nice pitch to it.

I think ideally they would like to keep it ungroomed and allow it to get a little bumpy, like they try to do with Devil's Bit on Granite. However they don't get enough natural snow and for the sake of getting more terrain open, they groom it and it skis easier.

I drove past MC this afternoon on my way to and from Hidden Valley and they were blowing snow all over the mountain. It looks like good snowmaking temps for at least the next 10 days plus some natural tomorrow night into Sunday morning.

From their point of view, if they're still getting revenue from meals and drinks, why pony up the cash for construction? Why else would the tents have lasted 3+ years with no end in sight?

It's pretty simple really, Intrawest was bought by Fortress, then they go bankruptcy with Intrawest and now Fortress is feeling alot of financial pain. Revenue generated by the hill is needed just to keep the boat from sinking.

I still think they need to eventually drop this 100 percent park thing on the south side of the resort. From skiing it myself it actually doesn't feel like a giant park. Most of the runs seem to be a rail or a jump here or there. I'm not saying they shouldn't be pushing the park thing, cause I realize its a large part of their business now. But labeling an entire half of your area as a "park" scares off skiers and riders not interested in terrain features from using that portion of the terrain, and it makes it seem like a much smaller area to them.

I think they need to devote a run here and there as "park". Since they've given up on the superpipe maybe they can flatten that back out and put features there, as well as on the run above it. Keep features on the big open run out on the bottom of south, devote a run here and there on the rest of the hill.

I realize its not going away. I'm more suggesting they present differently. I mean from what I can see South isn't 100 percent park. Some of the trails don't even have one feature on them. I think this largest park in the east thing rings of BS and people know it. I think they would be better off unlabeling some of the runs as terrain park, and then advertising that they have 3 or 4 terrain parks with at least one on the north side.

they should move the racing back to south, the racing hill aint doing shit. i think they are going to bit better at south this year compared to last year will have to wait and see what they do at bear then we can discuss. it does seem like they are making an effort to improve things this year.

The way I look at it, is even if they improve things.... they are never going to use the entire real estate of the south area for terrain park features. Way to many flat and narrow sections. Its not a bad idea for them to emphasize south as the terrain park side of the mountain... but saying the whole area is a terrain park only serves to make skiers and free riders feel they only have half the mountain to enjoy now.

Also, is there even any racing going on this year? The rumor I heard is all the racing programs moved over to Hidden Valley this season.

ya i know what your saying but i can see it from their marketing persons point of view which is exactly the way i would do it. for the people that go a few times a year think that there is this huge terain park so close draws them in. have you been over in the last week they did build a bunch more stuff. it still isn't where and how i would build things but its a lot more than they had last year. its not really like im defending them because they dobt really know what they are doing. i think the people they have working for them are a little on the young side and dont really have a lot of experience. this is just speculation as i don't know who is in charge of the parks.

as far as racing i have seen zero closed and the gates up. i think it just might be for the MC racers as i have not seen any of the HS teams which is a good thing because those kids need a smack in the head. i swore if i colided with any of them this year i was going to file assault charges with the vernon police and make a huge deal. those kids have not been taught the first thing about the responsibilty code and its just going to keep propagating itself with the next generation
