I've heard of groomers with attachments that create moguls fields. Take a look at this run:

Rumrunner at Loon

With bumps that evenly spaced, I have to imagine they were created with some sort of equipment. Does anyone have any info on what's used to do this? There were other areas at Loon last week that were bumped up that were not as evenly spaced (Flume for example) that I'm guessing were created by skier traffic.

I've heard that Okemo has a similar machine. Don't know much about it. No way those things were naturally formed unless they had 100 Olympians cutting perfect turns down that hill.

Wonder this myself...

I was watching one of the moguls competitions on TV the other day and was wondering the same thing. In order to make it fair the bumps have to be reasonably similar or the competition wouldn't be fair. I've never heard of a machine which does this, however. I'd be curious to know....

Here's a response I received through Susan Watson, Loon's Internet Marketing Manager. She forwarded this question to Ralph Lewis, Loon's Director of Skiing Operations and he responded with:
There is not a special attachment to build moguls. We have a very experienced groomer operator that builds the moguls with the standard blade you see on the front of the cats.Takes lots of time but is usually worth it!
 It must take one talented groomer operator to pull that off!
