100% agree with this. Many areas in the past basically didn't "allow" bumps. Now they seed them. Way better.

For those in the Catskills, a couple of trails at Belleayre had the makings for bump runs on Saturday. I wouldn't call them bump runs yet but soon.
Bell does a great job letting trails bump up, and when they thaw/freeze they topcoat them..

What am I missing...?

Aren't bumps created by skiers? Isn't creating bump lines part of the deal?
Good skiers creating good bumps?

I'm admittedly out of the loop - but - do people expect ski areas to create bumps fro them?

I never understood how they seeded bumps. Someone explain that to me. Do they have a machine that does it?

My own personal experience these days is that the equipment is different and having lines form even on perfect conditions is no longer a given. For instance, this past weekend, with only one way down, HBK should have bumped up nicely, at least on the edges. We really only had some lines going in the fence line by yesterday afternoon.

Exactly...Good skiers...Short radius turns make good bump lines

East Fall at Killington seemed pretty good! The head wall on super star had good bumps but were spread out and hard two weekends ago.

Seeding bumps by placing bump seeds down before it snows and adding water. haha! Actually - Seeding bumps is done by staff pushing snow by skiing down and turning hard which generally translates to a turning pattern with bumps forming at the end of each turn. Often shaped by ski patrol or other staff after the groomer has conditioned the slope.

Cannon has a number of trails withs bumps on the sides and grooms the other side of the trail. Most of the front five is like this.

yep... here's a vid where the turns are greatly effected by equipment. Rolling those ankles and dropping the hips changes the lines.

hmm... the music reminds of a cheesy stripclub.

Unfortunately, shaped skis have turned almost everyone into giant slalom highway stars these days.

I wouldn't call the "turns" most people are making out there anything close to a giant slalom turn... Going straight, throwing in some half-assed skid that sort of gets you going in the other direction, repeat as necessary does not equal a "giant slalom turn".
