Ski Area: Mohawk Mountain - Cornwall, CT
Weather: Mostly sunny with a few passing clouds. Temps reached into the 20's with a light and variable wind.
Conditions: Machine groomed packed powder, some of the finest I've experienced in CT in quite a few years.
Trip Report:
Being as on vacation from my full time job and having no "on-hill" obligations today at my home hill I decided to just go out and ski it! The weather couldn't have been more perfect, bright sunshine, no wind and some of the best skiing surfaces we've seen down this way in a long time.
Skied from 11:30am to until around 4:00pm with a break for lunch and managed to log around 12,000 vertical feet of descent. Lots of people out on the hill for mid week in December but, the open trails remained somewhat uncrowded and the five operating lifts never had a wait. Some of the best December skiing in CT I've experienced in quite a few years, it's a shame that the weather is going to change for the worst.
A bonus was the opening of the new summit triple chair!
