I guess technically, you're correct, but so am I. 89 takes a turn more westerly at Montpelier. Often times I take 100B to 100 from 89 so I think of the MRV as south of 89. But whatever...

The part of 89 that I was referring to was where 89 crosses into VT. Not that it even really matters since I've made it quite clear that I love the MRV.

Anything west of 495 in Mass and South of 89 in VT is in an area that I just don't associate with any state. Any Masshole knows that the state really ends at 495. And well I just don't care about anything in VT south of 89.

The MRV is not south of 89 - it's west of 89. Magic is south of 89 and I have little desire to ski there. I also have little desire to go back to Killington (which is also west of 89 for the record), Snow, Stratton, Okemo... Yeah the list goes on. Call me a ski snob if you want, but I know what I like and that's where I go. I hate the crowds, the groomers, the lack of snow, the obnoxiously wide trails, the lack of glades.... The list goes on...

Wow. Talk about close-minded. This Masshole lives west of 495 & I don't think the state ends there. The Boston area has a lot of good attributes but for me, high cost of living, traffic & high crime rate don't cut it as far as a place to raise a family and have a good quality of life. You'll notice that I acknowledge the benefits that the 495 beltway has but conclude that I prefer other things for me. You don't appear to even want to admit that there might be some positive aspect beyond 495.

Also, if you like Sugarbush and hate crowds, groomers, wide trails & lack of glades then you should definitely try Magic. Its unlike any other Southern VT ski area & doesn't have any of those attributes. But since you've made up your mind that its not even worth trying, I'm sure we won't be able to convince you. That's your loss.

The comment about west of 495 was tongue in cheek. It's a pretty widely known joke that Mass ends at 495.

As for Magic, I just really don't have the funds to go on a bunch of day trips to try different mountains. I have my Sugarbush pass, Mad Card and then maybe a day or two at another mountain. Magic isn't a day trip for me and I don't want to spend the money on lodging to stay in that area. It may be my loss, but I accept that.

i dont see anything wrong with what you're saying. everyone has an opinion.

as far as mass ending at 495, isnt that why boston is sometimes referred to as the hub of the universe? anyone that lives near there thinks the world revolves around it.

no offense meant by the way, i have plenty of relatives in the braintree/hanover area and that is how they all think.

No offense taken - that is definitely the prevailing attitude in the Boston area.

I couldn't agree more.....The 18 years I lived in mass, I felt like western mass was a whole different state, western mass being any town west of worcester or leominster though, not the 495

Anywhere north of the Charles is Canada.
Anything west of 495 is the Boonies, until you get to California. Anything south of the Cape is Rhode Island.
