Date(s) Skied: 1/08/09
Resort or Ski Area: Mount Snow
Conditions: 8-12" Powder, dumping the whole time
I was there.
Trip Report:
Skied from 1:30 - 4:00 with my son's school program. What a great day - I was grumbling and stomping my feet yesterday during the sleet/freezing rain crap, and then out of the blue today it snowed unexpectedly all day long!
The Mt. Snow report is not exaggerating by much when they claim 10-12" new in the last day. There was even enough to venture into the woods a bit with my son and his new Flip Video camera, although you can see at the end of the clip, there are still lots of hidden dangers right below the surface of the snow.
We skied Overbrook, One More Time, Snowdance, The Boonies, Long John, Upper and Lower NItro, and then back to the lodge via Long John/Deer Run. Not bad for a couple hours!
Saw a bit of the Dew Tour preliminaries while we were at Carinthia. It's very festive with lots of tents, lots of schwag, and the half pipe all lit up. Of course, while the storm was great for our skiing, I don't think it helped the competitors much. Can't be too much fun launching off one of those enormous hits with such low visibility.
