Resort: Mount Snow

Conditions: POWDER!! Cloudy in the AM, Bluebird after lunch, temps in the low/mid 20's

Report: How can a day with 10" of good quality powder, decent temps, and relatively speaking light winds not be a good one?? :) It was good, very, very, very good. Freshies all over the place, and even with a decent sized and early arriving crowd, the goods were had up until my legs waived the white flag around 1:30.

Overbrook, "Old" Standard, Pat's Pitch, Jaws, Olympic, The Trials, Ledge, South Bowl :), Sundance, Hop :) :), Shootout(okay for some reason they groomed that one ), another "groomer" - One More Time(I was actually the first person down it after a late AM groom when the patrol dropped the rope), Uncles :), Big Dipper :), Little Dipper :), Moonwalk. Great, great, great. On top of those, they're still hammering trails with the guns. River Run was a mogul field on the headwall since they've covered it with 6 to 10 foot whales of glorious soft snow, and Plummet is burried too with the same HUGE whales of soft snow. I'd guess that Snowdance had some big whales on it as the fan guns have been running non stop since Friday night, but I never made it down Snowdance today to see 1st hand. Beartrap was also getting hammered with the guns too, but when I finally decided to head up the lift there, it was about 1PM and I knew that my legs just didn't have a Beartrap left in them.

Great, great, great!!!

Lower Canyon 8:30AM - never skied it today, but I figured I'd atleast get a pic from the lift as I wasn't stopping to take any 1st thing this AM :)

Wow! They had the guns ripping!

How were the crowds Jeff? We didn't make it up anywhere this weekend. We ended up staying late at my company Christmas party. We did end up watching the Dew Tour on NBC yesterday while doing a home improvement project to the kitchen. That was cool.

Couldn't stay for Sunday but I know it was awesome because of the way we left it after skiing Friday and Saturday. Mt. Snow is definitely in her glory! Trip report to come with some pics.
No crowds Friday. Saturday the main lifts were busy, but we hit the singles line perfect after lunch, and were forced to take Ego Alley and Upper Sundance a couple times - with no lines at all. Never a line on the North Face with both lifts running Saturday.
The snowmaking going on is amazing considering they really don't have to. Have to believe they were close to full capacity with all the guns they had blasting Friday and Saturday, and evidently Sunday also!

Ah forget it.......

Too busy to write a good trip report today. I'll just add some more here to drjeff's thread and make it a weekend Mt. Snow thing. Was cold as hell and lonely out there Friday. Plenty of boot deep everywhere!
Chris and Mario joined me Saturday and there was still plenty of packed powder around. Much more time in the woods today. It is a shame what the ice storm left behind. Taking a lot of nice lines away.
Anyway, Mount Snow definitely got that surprise foot Thursday. Base is great on the trails. Nothing sticking through anywhere on the trails. Woods are almost there. Good enough - but this week should really top things off!
Never went over to check out Carinthia or Sunbrook, no reason too, especilally with the Dew Tour there.

Actually took one run over there Saturday afternoon. Nothing special worth doing again, but I guess they will be blowing the crap out of it the next couple days............................sound sytem is going to hell and should be revamped..........................may be up there Saturday and I'll check it out again. If I can get out of work Friday it's Magic, then Mt. Snow Saturday. Still working on that one...................

Nice!! Any of you guys hit beartrap???

Beartrap still had the guns blasting away when I last rode up the chair there around noon today. The whales that they've made all along skier's right between the tree line and the lift towers are getting BIG! From the lift towers over to the left tree line will be a bit thin in places until we get another couple of good storms.

Freefall and Chute were bumping up nicely(and that was BEFORE they turned the guns back on on Chute today). Jaws was looking good too(I was skiing with my wife and 5 year old daughter today so many of the bump runs were just visual inspections today), and per the snow report, Ripcord gets gun time starting Tuesday.

Bump season is on at Mount Snow
