A surprise 4 inches at the bottom and 8 at the top made for quite the day at Sneaux. Got a front row parking spot at Sundance Lot even at 9 am. Temps were in the 20's all day. Weather changed from snow to partly sunny as the day continued.

First run was down South Bowl, with knee deep freshies up top. It was the first and best run of the day. After that skied the naturals off the Sundance Triple until lunch: Uncles, Shootout, Hop, etc.

Moved over to North Face for a few. Ripcord was first. Conditions were soft manmade chalk, and of course, straight down as always. Typical large audience at the bottom. Next hit Jaws of Death. That was it for my knees. Top to bottom soft bumps and steeps. Trail is great shape.

Had some lunch then hit up both Big and Lower Dipper. Moved over to Carinthia to hit the naturals. Upper Titanium, Iron Run, and Narrow Gauge. Iron Run was a second ROTD. Hidden gem.

Then headed over to the Canyon area for a few last runs before the legs gave out. Hit Overbrook and Canyon (haven't skied in years since the park was there until this year). Last run was an Upper Standard to Somerset Road and back to Sundance Base.

Overall an awesome day, hope others enjoyed it as well.

How is Upper Titanium. That entire trail (upper and lower) was a great run last year. I'm interesting in hearing how it is with the "natural" features they were going add.

We'll be up there next weekend; I can't wait. Haven't been up since the weekend before the Dew Tour.

No features yet on Upper Titanium. Just nice, soft fluff and skier/rider packed powder. Also, they added a feature right next to the 1/2 pipe on Lower Nitro(The Boneyard), that now lets you cut right from Lower Nitro over to Heavy Metal WITHOUT having to maneuver around the Nitro liftline! :)

Just a great weekend at Mount Snow. COLD on Saturday, BUT absolutely 100% perfect packed powder conditions, and even some small stashes of windblown powder to be found here and there. Then Sunday with GREAT blower quality powder that was depending on the elevation either side of 6"(and much deeper in some windloaded areas :) )

ROTD for me had to be skier's left of Bear Trap around 9:30 with GREAT powder/bumps and Tesla's "Modernday Cowboy" blasting out of the speakers!

Was There!

Newpylong said it all. Depth of snow around the hill was definitely a pleasant surprise yesterday. The whole mountain is skiing unbelievably great. Didn't take many runs twice. First time this year I think I hit all four areas (Face, TNF, Sunbrook, Carinthia) in one day. Being solo helped. Did pretty much every tree run also. Big bumps on Jaws, Challenger, PDF, Plummet, Olympic, Little Steep, Yard Sale. Bear Trap getting there. Was a good crowd, seemed to be late arriving. A few pics from Sunday:

Excellent! I'm glad it's a short work week...less time to wait before skiing.

I don't think you're going to see any hits ever on Upper Titanium. There are more than enough on the rest of the mountain. The majority of the crowd was on Nitro, Mineshaft, and Inferno, with some on the Gulch was well. Iron Run thankfully remains a gem without features. Even at 2 pm yesterday it was untracked. The park crew can only maintain so many features...

We skied from 10:30-2:30 Monday. Crowds were sparse as many vacationers had headed home by that time. Conditions were great. Right now, our family's biggest challenge is figuring out how to balance the kids' desires for where to ski with the parents' choices of terrain. Kids want trees and terrain parks and the parents want a balance of cruisers, bumps and some trees for me. Soon enough the kids will be old enough to go off on their own, but for now there's a little tension that I don't really like.

Anyway, the snow was great and we spent our time in Sunbrook, Southbowl, and in Carinthia sheparding the kids down into the halfpipe.

Newpylong/Rob, I checked out Prospector/Iron Run, and you're spot on with you comments. It's peaceful gem of a trail in the midst of freestyle land. The last pitch of Iron Run has some good pitch to it as well, and provides some nice practice on the steeps for my 8 yr old without commiting to a longer trail with that pitch.

ROTD for us was Darkside of the Moon:

Awesome vid! Sounds like the kids were having a great time. I used to love woods trails when I was younger; it was like you were in a different world. I still like zipping along between the trees.

We haven't been up there in a few weeks due to a bad choice to skip the Dew Tour and a blackout date this past weekend. I'm excited to get back up there this weekend.

Glad you liked Iron Run. There are 3 similar hidde gems like that in my book. Ledge, Uncles, and Iron Run. When you are on these runs you can't tell where you are or that there is a wide boulevard with snowmaking and a 100 people on it on either side of you.

I never could get into Darkside of the Moon. I tried it again this weekend. I find it extremely tight, with no clear lines, and the tree growth is so low that I am always hunched over.

We skied Monday and Tuesday, thanks to the school holiday and a teachers workshop. Conditions were great for us on Monday - pleasantly surprised by the fresh powder. So light and fully, I was in heaven. North Face was definitely bumped up - took a run down Jaws (without a sole in site the whole way), Upper Challenger, thru the woods (The Wall?) in the center, then to lower Challenger, up the lift again and over to Olympia. Couldn't get my legs in sync so I bailed North Face. Decided to ski the center of the mountain, and took Hop for the first time. Lots of fun with bumps and plenty of powder stashes.

Today most of the powder had been turned into freshly groomed corduroy, which our friends enjoyed (their first time out this year). Didn't make it over to North Face. Split from the group to check out the end of Long John (where it heads up hill by the turn to Deer Run) and found myself at the top of Bear Trap. Was supposed to meet back up with the group over at The Gulch, but decided to steal a run to myself. Bear Trap looked like it would be slip and slide (scraped areas and bumps) but the sun had soften it enough and I found the snow very turnable. Best run for me all day (being solo probably helped!).

Nice couple of days. Crowds were light on Monday and non-existent today. Even got to witness history as the inaugration was playing on all the Main lodges tvs.

I looked at the webcams a few times today MommaBear...I was amazed by the lack of lines; and wished I was up there making turns!

I think that ALL of the internet froze a few times Tuesday, especially around noontime. Don't all these part time internet users realize that us "snow junkies" need multiple daily webcam fixed more than they need to view a historical event?? ;) ;)
