Resort or Ski Area: Mount Snow
Conditions: Powder and Groomed Fresh Natural
Trip Report: It was Youth Day at Mount Snow. Kids under 18 pay their age. The place was crawling with young people, but the conditions were so excellent that it didn't matter. A bit of a wait at the Summit, Carinthia, and Canyon quads but nothing too bad. The trails are so wide open at Mount Snow that the crowd didn't make a big difference once you got on the hill. The fresh snow, anywhere from 7 to 10 inches in different places, from Friday was still there along the sides of some trails and groomed out in others. The North Face was a little icy, but all and all, one of the best days at Mount Snow I have ever had. Conditions were awesome.
Youth Day was interesting. Towards the end of the day some of the trails got all bumped up. They were pulling the kids off on the rescue sleds two at a time. I saw a least a half dozen myself. One kid made it back to the lodge but was talking to his buddies about not being able to move his arm. I told him his arm was broke. He was worried about missing about missing his school's bus back home. Ski Patrol came in the lodge and splintered him up and medivac'd him. Ah, to be young again.
