Resort:Mount Snow
Date Skied: 03/18/2007 11:30 am to 3:15Pm
Conditions: Clouds, windy summit and snow. Nice fresh powder on the trails.
Trip Report: I wanted to take advantage of Friday / Saturday’s fresh snow so I headed up to Mount Snow today. It was snowing when I pulled into the Carinthia lot. It was a little tough finding a parking spot. There was about a 5 minute wait for the Nitro Quad. One thing I noticed is the Sundance Triple, The Heavy Metal double, Ego Alley and the Summit Local were not running today. Usually everything is running on a weekend.
The first run down was down Long John to Deer Run and then a cross trail to get to the Summit Express Quad. There was a 5 minute wait. Exiting the lift I headed over to Fallen Timbers on Northface. Nice soft bumps with good spacing. There were some icy spots that the fresh snow had been skied off or wind blown off. The next trail I took was Plummet. More bumps!
I headed over to Sunbrook and went down Cloud Nine which was uncrowned. Small bumps were forming just about everywhere. After a few runs alternating between Little and Big Dipper, I headed over to Beartrap. I thought it was closed as I did not see anybody on it. It was not too bad. The upper part had boilerplate and the lower part had more snow retained in the bumps.
I did head back to NorthFace via the Sunbrook Quad. I ended up missing Fallen Timbers and taking Olympic down. The upper part had a lot of icy spots and saplings coming through. About ½ way down, the trail was like Fallen Timbers.
I did head down to the Summit Express lift via Skyline to Upper Choke / Choke / Standard. It was like Mount Snow never groomed any of the trails as there were a lot of small bumps forming. To end the day I skied back to Carinthia via the Long John Trail to Mine Shaft. One more ride up the Nitro Quad and back to the base via Titatnium.
It was a great day today!
