Resort: Mount Snow

Conditions: Cold, temps in the single digits warming to low teens, BLUEBIRD sky, light/moderate winds. Snow was anywhere between a wind drifted 12" to wind scoured hard pack

All in all a good day. Cold temps but if you dressed for it the sun made it feel fine

The storm by the time it was done dropped maybe 4 to 5" of pretty light fluff that was then subjected to "redistribution" all night long by the wind. This resulted in anywhere from drifts of 12" on down to wind scoured hardpack depending on where you were. Many trails that didn't get groomed over night had a nice top coating of a few inches of fluff on them :)

Ego Alley around 12:30 still with plenty of fluff

Ripcord - still roped off :( My hand held digicam really didn't capture how much the tops of those bumps were glistening

Other trails looked promising, but had some rough stuff under the fluff

Jaws - scheduled to receive winch cat treatment tonight, and believe me when I say this is a GOOD thing

The premium (fan gun) trails are back skiing great after the thaw/freeze up. A couple of days of cat treatment combined with a few inches of natural have them with a GREAT surface once again. The Classic trails are anything from great to slick/scratchy depending on how many times they've been groomed and/or how much or little natural accumulated on them the last few days, and the natural trails/tree areas are again in play with a firm base and some natrual of varying depths over it

nice report!!! didnt know they groomed jaws....ripcord too??

steveo

Maybe 2 or 3 times a season after mother nature freezes them up via the thaw/freeze cycle and the weather window isn't favorable for short term softening in the form of a decent amount of powder or spring temps.

Jaws gets it tonight, my guess will be that Olympic gets cat time tommorrow and then depending on what the type of precip/temps will be this weekend will determine if Ripcord, Chute and Bear Trap gets cat time later this week. Better to have them OPEN and rebumping than closed and waiting IMHO

Did they have the Dippers open? Those were both roped off on Sunday.

nice pictures..it's amazing how much colder it was just a few days ago..

Yup, that Mount Snow snow sculpture in the 1st pic is now nothing more than a random amorphous snow pile after the last 2 days. On the flipside, I haven't complained 1 bit about not having to wear face protection the last 3 days ;)
