Resort: Mount Snow
Conditions: Cold, temps in the single digits warming to low teens, BLUEBIRD sky, light/moderate winds. Snow was anywhere between a wind drifted 12" to wind scoured hard pack
Report:
All in all a good day. Cold temps but if you dressed for it the sun made it feel fine
The storm by the time it was done dropped maybe 4 to 5" of pretty light fluff that was then subjected to "redistribution" all night long by the wind. This resulted in anywhere from drifts of 12" on down to wind scoured hardpack depending on where you were. Many trails that didn't get groomed over night had a nice top coating of a few inches of fluff on them
Middle Exhibition
Freefall
Ego Alley around 12:30 still with plenty of fluff
Ripcord - still roped off
My hand held digicam really didn't capture how much the tops of those bumps were glistening
Other trails looked promising, but had some rough stuff under the fluff
Little Dipper
Jaws - scheduled to receive winch cat treatment tonight, and believe me when I say this is a GOOD thing
The premium (fan gun) trails are back skiing great after the thaw/freeze up. A couple of days of cat treatment combined with a few inches of natural have them with a GREAT surface once again. The Classic trails are anything from great to slick/scratchy depending on how many times they've been groomed and/or how much or little natural accumulated on them the last few days, and the natural trails/tree areas are again in play with a firm base and some natrual of varying depths over it
