Resort or Ski Area: Mount Sunapee, NH

Conditions: Bluebird day with groomed granular and corn.

Trip Report:

Did a day trip to Mount Sunapee on Saturday, looking at the forecast this could be our last of the season. Since it's about a 3 hour drive we didn't hit the slopes till 9:30 or so. Beautiful bluebird day. Don't think I saw a single cloud, light wind, and highs in the low 40s. Conditions were generally good, groomed runs were fairly firm but not icy early, turned softer into corn and heavier granular as the day wore on. Somewaht slushy down low late in the day. But surprising little scaped off ice given the relatively large crowds. There were lift lines all day but waits were never excessive. Conditions held up surprisingly well till late in the day. I was just not skiing well today -- just one of those days I guess but everything felt out of sync. Our favorite runs of the day were Lynx, off the North Peak Triple and Bonanza to Chipmunk off the Express Quad. Views from the top of Sunapee on a clear day are just outstanding. Overall a great day. Hope it's not the last of the season and wish I'd been skiing better.

Not really. That's the beauty of skiing this time of year - all that hardpack and "ice" base is now edgeable snow... :D
