Resort or Ski Area: Mountain Creek

Conditions: Variable...Powder to Hardpack.

Trip Report: Arrived around 7:30AM, pretended I had a season pass and skied the first hour with almost no one else on the trails.

The Good:
Lots of powder/packed powder until around 2PM, when some ice started to show up on the heavily traveled trails.

Pipeline and Devil's Bit were great, probably close to a foot of manmade powder, lots of fun whales.....and no one else on the trail.

Liftlines were minimal, Vernon Triple and Granite Peak Quad were ski-on, and the "gondola" was only about 5 mins.

The majority of people were actually suprisingly courteous and nice, although I avoided the parks, and the "gondola" which is the lift all the park rats take.

The Bad:
South Peak isn't open yet, and Bear only had one trail, and was only open for Season Passholders.

The lifties are completely incompetent. I watched many chairs/cars get sent up with only one or two people, the singles line for the Vernon Triple merges right at the loading point for the lift, so it was very chaotic to get on, resulting in many lift stoppages.

The "gondola" is a dumb idea, a 6-pack would make much more sense there. The ride is only about 2-4 minutes, having to take your skis on and off all the time is annoying. You stand up, and it's open air......

Other:
Noticed some interesting stuff when I was there. First up, there is an old surface lift of some type (Either poma, T-bar or J-bar.) off to the left of triple bound, on the last little drop there. Maybe an old beginner slope?

Also, I noticed some things that look like old trails, I'd be interested in checking them out if I had some idea of where they came out, so does anyone have either an old Vernon Valley map, Granite Gorge map, or the map when it was VV/GG?
