Date(s) Skied: 2/5/11

Resort or Ski Area: Mad River Glen

Conditions: Pow/cut up pow in the woods. Trails had seen a good amount of traffic, but surface was still nice. Real nice looking bumps.

Trip Report: Awesome day. Actually a little too warm though. Seems every run at MRG is a workout. Waited up to 40 minutes for the single chair, but still feel I got plenty of skiing in.

Edited for video fix and Marky Mark mancrush.

Thanks. My stamina sucks :-x. I was feeling good for the first third, not so good for the middle and barely hanging on for the bottom. I was happy to finish on my feet.

Great "vibe" at MRG. Had the chance to meet some nice people in the lift line. Somebody was telling me that they could have put in a triple for less money than the custom single. Fastest fixed grip chair in the country. If it wasn't, the line could have been an hour :p.

I don't think a triple was ever proposed or priced, unless I am mistaken. I think it was a new double would have been cheaper due to all the custom work that needed to be done with the Single.

I'm planning on participating in all three Triple Crown events next year. I figure if I don't do it soon, I'll be one year older when I do. This wasn't the year for it though.

I would think it makes it tough for the lift ops, trying no to skewer anyone with the bar.

That "Vertical Challenge" sounds harder than anything. One run was bad enough. I was talking to a young guy at the bottom of the course who said he won it last year? Another person I spoke with said he's been skiing there 30 years and was trying the comp for the first time (along with his 11 and 13 y.o. kids).

The Vertical Challenge definitely sounds like the hardest of the three events. The bump comp is pretty short and the Terrain event requires you to go big with good speed and not stop. But over 20 runs down Chute and Liftline? I would need to make it a priority to train for that (at least to be competitive). Probably will buy three Mad Cards next year instead of my normal one.

Great video. I was there Friday and Saturday as well, and I thought the conditions were great. Last nights snow should fill in some of those grassy spots that were popping up very nicely.

I hadn't been to MRG in 6 years, so it was a very humbling experience. The woods were a little intimidating to me, since there appeared to be lots of drops like the ones in your vid just to get in. And I had taken a pretty good tumble on this little drop that cuts the corner at the beginning of One Way, so I was all set with unexpected drops.

 What the hell was that?

Nice job pow and congrats on the 16th.

Thanks mrj. Strangely enough I think I may have pocketdialed you while I was there. I did the same thing to 2knees a while back.

On a side note, I saw a few photos from the comp and holy sh*t, does the GoPro look goofy :dunce:! The clown poles don't help either.
