Trip Report:
WOW Zand!! You did more skiing by lunch than I could have done all weekend (at least with my bride!)
We arrived from the Albany area a bit late in the morning ~ 11:30. I wish we got there earlier for parking etc. We started off from the Main base lodge and it was JAMMED. A bit confusing as we don't have a lot of big resorts under our belt, so we just followed the heard, except not to the Grand Summit "Express". It was your choice, wait in line for 25 minutes to hit the Quad and have it stop more than it moved, or grab the old Summit Local with no lines and fairly steady progress(less a drippy carriage).
From the top to continue with my wife's confidence building, we skied Long John to Deer Run, Traverse to Meadow to Beaver Hill. A great run for my wife, except the THRONGS of people. Now I remember why I ski midweek non-holiday!!
For her sake, as I promised her a day of mellow skiing, we pretty much stuck to variations of the same run, although I feel she could have done just fine on some of the nicer blues which looked great from the Local and had far less traffic, but oh well. I kept entertained by popping in and out of the woods and trying to avoid out of control junior riders.
On a side note, I think I'll invest in a helmet after watching a father steam roll his son at about 25 mph, with the resounding thud of edges smacking his son's helmet. No injuries just good spirits...man.
So as not to bore anybody with my weak report (especially after Zand's kick a$$t review) I will say to anyone who has not been to Mt. Snow, it's a terrific mountain, easy to get to from NY and has tons of skiing. The conditions can only improve.
We headed out about the same time as Zand, but stopped at Gringo's for some margaritas and grub due to traffic. We still hit the same mess after we ate and didn't get back home till around ~8:30.
All and all a good day.
