Me, wife, 4yr old

23 degrees, 5-10mph winds, bluebird day

Strange, grew up 30 min from Mt Southington, but never skiied there, always went to PRidge. We pulled into the parking lot just before 10am, not many there...great looking older lodge, classic New England look. Lodge was dated, yet clean and very functional (might be tight on a croweded day)

Got our 4hr tickets at 10:20 and were off to the 'summit'...didnt even take any poles as we were there skiing with our 4yr old and just really want to keep getting her skiing milage in....conditions were great for central CT, great coverage, some hardpack/ice underneathe in sections, but that is to be expected with all the thaws/freezes. We were all having a blast, she was absolutly thrilled to be skiing with us, she was the 'line leader' and picking trails and jumps to hop over.....her highlight of the day was the "Hieny Tow" (T bar lift) she thought that was the best...

took 5 runs then headed in for a bite and a rest (2250' feet vert) for 4yr old legs is a lot....then headed back out for another few runs or so and called it a day, she was falling asleep on the last lift ride up.....she skiied about 3000' in all.

Back to my folk house, shower, hung out, a nice pasta dinner and on the road back to LI by 7, kids asleep in the back, home at 9...great day for sure!!!

Sounds like a really fun day. Southington does a good job for what it is. Last year when the weather *cough* killed-off Powder Ridge, Southington was able to stay open. they're in a tough area (read, NOT in the NW hills) so its good to see them hanging in there, despite recent conditions.

strange thing about southington is having a ski area literally in the middle of a residential neighborhood.

Sounds alot like Thunder Ridge...you can look into people's backyards as you ride the lifts.
