I wanted to assault Mt. Tecumseh from the north, but alas, Tripoli Road is closed. So, I parked at Waterville Valley ski area in Lot 1, and bagged the summit from the other end of Mt. Tecumseh trail. The bottom mile of the 2.5 mile trail was soggy with muddy spots, with a couple of minor stream crossings.
Around 3,000 feet, I put on microspikes - I got tired of slipping on icy spots. The trail was definitely navigable without traction, but the microspikes just made life easier. I saw several others on the trail; while almost everyone had poles, I don't think anyone else was wearing traction.
From the summit, I took Sosman trail over to the top of the ski slopes - several small blowdowns, but there was one big evergreen that completely obscured the trail. Kicking myself for not having my little bow saw with me - I could have cleared several of the blowdowns with no issue.
The ski area had the snow guns cranking, so that sound accompanied much of the route.
