Hoping this rain moves out quickly today so things can drain and I can get in a ride out of Scoville at 6 pm tomorrow. Anyone interested?

I was planning to ride out of Scoville tomorrow p.m. too. In the process of watching/waiting on the rain. There should be some decent options from Scoville tomorrow as long as we don't get 3" of rain.

As of now, I'm planning on avoiding the Scoville twisties, northside of Hinman's and the rock wall mud pit as a precaution. East end of Cemetery could be greasy too...I'm planning on being out there doing tm today and tomorrow. I will give you guys a lowdown on what I see out there as far as trail conditions go.

Any word on the "Notch" being rideable for mere mortals yet?

I know Mlegg is anxious to get a connector (hike-a-bike bypass) going from the south end of Sessions near the bridges on E. Chippens over to the start of the waterfall downhill. I think that connector could be done with nothing more than a rake.

I also wouldn't mind poking around in the middle of the gravel loop tomorrow evening. I hear there's stuff in there.

The middle of the gravel loop stuff you speak of is probably the "Crosscut" trail...really easy to get to...take the Sessions trail from E.Chippens past the old Beehive area...and pop onto the gravel path...at that point take a left and it will be on your right...there's even a sign that marks it as "crosscut".

The Notch is certainly ready for mortals...I spent 6 hours on it yesterday. All of the rock ups and rollers have go arounds if needed. The trail has also been trimmed back substantially, making the turns and hills a bit easier to make. There are only two little bits of details that are yet to finish. 1) Tidy up the bypass around the last drop before the huge roller 2) rake an alternate line around a HUGE deadfall that is across the last bit of trail that sends you into the V notched wall. Be forewarned though...Don't ride this trail when wet!!! There are a few spots that ride fine when dry...but, will be downright scary when wet (the two rock rollers at the end of the trail come to mind).

I'm thinking you guys will like it. It's definitely a trail with a lot of fun pieces in it that will challenge you and get you coming back to conquer them if you don't get them the first time around.

Looking forward to checking it out and soon!

As for tomorrow, I am hitting Case with Tim...less he bails or changes his mind.

Unfortunately, I have to bag this. Might be better to wait a day anyway so I might try for Thursday or Friday.

Waiting a day doesn't sound like a bad idea...We'll have to see how the rest of the night and tomorrow's weather pans out. Right now, it is currently POURING in the greater Nassahegan area at 10:15 pm...and it has rained all day long already.

Can't do Thurs, but may try for Friday night.

Depending on the weather tomorrow I'll probably try to ride somewhere tomorrow, even if it's just White Memorial.

Just got back from my hiking/tm session. Tickler's is officially "mortal" friendly throughout. Even the really big roller towards the end has a super mellow go around on the left...but, there's a nice intermediate type line right down the guts of the roller that you all should be able to handle.

Onto the trail report: Overall, it's drier than I expected. The trails are drying pretty quickly...

The Cornwall downhill: It has a firm rolling surface on 90% of the trail. There is one area of standing water that has been there even during some dry spells...it's avoidable on a higher bypass line that is very well traveled/noticeable. Couple of soft spots here and there on the Cornwall downhill. Recomendation is it's good to go.

North side of Scoville: Did a quick walk through up to the junction of the jug handle and the Hinman's trail. Two soft spots with minimal mud. The trail is drying quickly and is holding together well under foot. I would suspect that the lower Swamp twisties by the triple bridges may be soft...proceed with caution there.

North side of Hinman's: Worst section I saw!! Walked the trail up and over to the stone wall. It's muddy in there and should be avoided or walked around. I suspect that the rest of the trail from the stone wall heading south is all right though. There may be a couple greasy spots by the bridges.

69er: Looked fine as I walked the first 1/4 mile from the north side of it. It has also proven to be a quick drying trail throughout this season.

Scoville twisties: Took a quick walk in on the southern end of the twisties via E. Chippen Hill Road. As expected, it's greasy right up to the armoring and after it as well. I wouldn't recommend this trail either.

These are the only trails that I gandered at!! Knowing generally how things dry up here...I would say that most things would be fine tonight. Just avoid the sections I mentioned if you could. The eastern most section of the cemetery as you are climbing may be a "greasy" too. It's been deteriorating lately. I will probably avoid it, but may ride it if I decide to head to Stone.

A loop that avoids these sections and should be mostly dry could be:

Boy Scout bridge trail - E.Chippen's Road (avoid blue trail up by the rock wall) - Truck trail - Beehive trail - Sessions twisties (to Sessions parking area) - cross route 69 - blue trail to Bobo's bridge - blue trail - FK climb or Kitchen bypass climb - Cornwall downhill (option for D Tickler's Notch) - 69er - Cemetery - post ride beer!

This is probably the loop I will be doing...unless we opt to head towards Stone since it will certainly be drier. If we do head to Stone...we're going to make a B line for that area and QUICKLY to maximize our time there. gonna be heading out around 6pm. Join if you'd like...you guys are always welcome.
