Sev....when did you break your foot. Was there a thread about it? Get well.
(I didn't want to hijack the other thread)

I broke my foot back in June. Came home from our son's 2 week old well visit and fell down the stairs when my left (weak) ankle gave out. I was wearing him in a sling and twisted so I wouldn't land on him... I thought for sure I blew the ankle but instead was given the lovely surprise of a broken 5th metatarsal. Of course, I didn't discover this until the next day as 1) I was alone with the kids at the time (it was a Monday so Brian was at work), and 2) I was in denial because our insurance benefits suck. It's bad enough we have to pay $2K+ just to have our kid; the last thing we needed was more medical bills.

But Brian convinced me and the next day we discovered that the ligament in my ankle likely pulled on the bone and snapped it. Clean break. They wanted to put me in a cast but with a 2 week old and 2 year old, I told them there was no way I could stay off my foot. So I spent June 12-August 13 in a walking boot. The boot is off now but there's still some tenderness. I asked about the long-term effects for skiing and was told that other than some possible lingering swelling affecting the fit of my boots (which, incidentally, don't fit anymore anyway after 2 pregnancies), there should be no problems. Then the bastard had the gall to brag about his "conference" out west last winter and how he spent 6 days skiing all day. That didn't help soften the blow of the fees they charged, that's for sure. ;)

Anyway, that's the story. I suppose I should change my siggy. ;) Thanks for the well wishes! :)

That stinks. One of my biggest fears is tripping when I am carrying our little one. How's it feeling today?

It's mostly sore if I don't wear supportive shoes (Crocs are the worst and that's what I was wearing when I fell). But not too bad. I can't predict weather with it, that's for sure. ;)

Good to hear you are mending! You know what's funny, I had a foot/leg injury this winter too and didn't know I had a stress fracture until about two weeks after the ski injury. I just kept limping around thinking I sprained my ankle until my husband made me go to the doctor. He took an x-ray but didn't think it was too serious either, so he took his sweet arse time checking things over. Almost a week after the x-ray I get a call. "Well, no more skiing for you this season." Would have been a fun sight if I'd just taped it up and went back out in the meantime!

Well, to be honest, the orthopedist didn't say. I don't have to go there anymore and there's no physical therapy. But I tried to do some yoga today and my foot definitely hurt even just sitting cross-legged. The 5th metatarsal is a common break but also one that takes time to heal. Original estimates were 4-6 months. As long as it's good by ski season, that's all that matters. ;)
