As a few of you may know, i own my very own snowmaking system in my backyard. Compleate with a small 42 foot slope with an 8 foot vertical and 20 feet wide. :spin:

My system consists of a soon to be small pumphouse. a garden hose, an air compressor and my snowgun. It's a type of snowmaker called a tee gun. Its similar to the low-e guns at the resorts expet this one gets about 0.2 gallons a minute. In good conditions i can cover half my trail with 3 inches of snow in about 4 hours. Its gets around half an inch an hour depending on conditions.

here is a link with a picture of my snowmaker.

Snowmaking is a facinating hobby. One might even look upon it as an art in which to master. generally temperatures have to be below freezeing.

If you want to know more about snowmaking and there are plans to even build your own snowmaking system! visit www.snowguns.com it requires resistration but its free.:spin:

Pretty cool!

Also, in your explanation of why you can make snow >32, don't forget about supercooling as a result of the expansion of compressed air in an air/water system.

This is why you can make snow at 30 WB. Otherwise, it would have to be <28 wb as a result of heat of fusion, which means that it takes 144btu to freeze a water droplet, which is equivalent to 4 degrees F. Therefore, it has to be 28 for it to freeze, butas it freezes, it warms up to 32F.

Snowmaking is absolutely, unquestionably as much art as it is science. And it's a heck of a lot of science!

Some day I will setup a snowmaking system of my own. I've always been fascinated by the idea.

Nice job!

I would like to know how you built the funbox? I have about 4 ft of vert in my backyard as well, but it is good enough for a box.
