The New Lifts and terrain are now growing all over : )~
Powder Mountain celebrated a major milestone on Tuesday, December 31, with the opening of the Lightning Ridge lift, the resort’s first new lift in over a decade. The debut was perfectly timed with 34 inches of fresh snow over the past week, setting the stage for eager skiers and riders to explore the lift’s expert-only terrain.
The Lightning Ridge lift is a Skytrac fixed-grip quad, designed to provide seamless access to some of Powder Mountain’s most technical and advanced terrain. It also establishes a vital new connection between the Sundown base area and the rest of the resort, enhancing overall accessibility for Powder Mountain guests.

Copper Mountain to Add 500+ Skiable Acres & Highest Lift in North Americav
They should have people acknowledge they have acclimitized before heading to the top of Jaques peak. "Its terminus at the top of the 13,150-foot Jaques Peak would make it the highest lift in North America." Flying into Denver and rushing to that lift is a recipe for trouble. My dad would ski patrol at A-Basin over 50 years ago and said woozy skiers often had problems and even "just skiied into the rocks". I had business in Boulder so I always did that for a few days before going to A-Basin. And slept the night before in Georgetown.

Honestly, not really that much different from Imperial at Breck. Yeah, couple hundred feet higher but the effects of that small an increase are negligible. Even just the base elevation is enough to tip some folks flying in from the flatlands in summit county.

Drove out to Breckenridge last spring. Wasn't a ski trip but I got to put in some days at A-Basin. First day knocked me sideways. Was not ready for that.

Maybe I'm an exception, but I just spent 3 days skiing A-Basin, Vail, and Copper. Other than taking a little to catch my breath when I'd stop, I really had no issues. At Vail I didn't notice it all. Mostly at Copper and A-Basin when skiing above 10-11,000 ft.

For the record, I'm not exactly "in shape"

The hardest thing was walking 3 flights of stairs to our 3rd floor condo. even my 24 yr old son thought that :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

When ever I'm in Summit County, I definitely notice it,... especially walking up a few flight of stairs. The other thing it does is make me fart a ton ::ROFLMAO:
I think the town of Break is at 8500 feet. But yeah, I agree with the above post - Copper will not be much different that Break in terms of altitude effect.

I’m curious about ski resort expansion in light of the attempted gutting of forest protections and/or sale of US Forest Service / public lands.

As terrible as the overall side effects would likely be, at least in terms of ski resort expansion, this might be a once per generation window to dust off any potential expansion plans and get them effectively rubber stamped.
