I recently bought a pair of elan's at a ski swap which had never been used. Should they be waxed prior to first skiing with them? I do not know since this is my first pair of skis I will own.

Thanks

new skis come with factory, mass produced type wax, it'll be ok for the first few days, but you'll need to get some good wax for the season if you plan on doing it on your own (highly recommended) yes, the upfront cost may hinder you, but in the long run it'll be cheaper and you'll get to know your skis....

check out Tongar.com for all waxes (a good universal like TOKO will be just fine) iron, scraper, brush for a good wax job...then you can keep buying (like i've done) and get all the bevel guides, files etc for edge work....
