Does anyone attend one of the ski areas' New Year's Eve events? If so, any comments you'd like to share? Was thinking about Sundown's this year but I'm not sure... the kids don't "really" ski yet so it may be more hassle than it's worth (though at least they'd eat for free).

That looks like a pretty decent time. Better then many of the New Years Eve's galas I've been suckered into going to. Cranmore up in New Hampshire had New Years events including fireworks that we were going to attend one year but we had to cancel due to other issues. Might be a long night for small children. Most of the best New Years Eve's I've had were spent at home, going to bed at about 10 and skiing the next day.

I will be at Mount Snow with a rag tag group of idiots, probably about 2x as many as our condo can comfortable hold.

Never been before, don't what festivities they have, but I presume fireworks will be involved.

Hunter does the torch light parade and fireworks at 7pm.

My band starts at 4.. The lodge party stops in time for everyone to head out other places.. think like around 8.

We did ski last NYE at Sundown, but left around 8:00 to go to a party, so we did not sign up for, or parcipate in, any of the events. Seemed like a nice family event.

Mount Snow has fireworks scheduled for the 30th. They have a pretty good sized, family New Years Eve party in the Grand Summit Ballroom and usually a pretty good band playing in the Snowbarn.

Last year, we were going to do the family event (had tickets purchased too), but everyone was flat out asleep by about 8PM after a full day on the hill

I like to ski New Year's morning. Everyone is sleeping over in the morning,. I always get the place to myself. The partiers arrive about noontime, and everything degrades from there - the customers are so hungover they can barely navigate the slopes. This year, on New Years day I'll be in the rain forest, no chance of getting first runs. :(

That's when I first started skiing--New Year's Day 2004. And you're right, it was pretty quiet that morning.
