The Automatic Gloves from Oakley provide a next step up from their Factory Gloves with regards to hand defense. Retaining the simplicity of the lighter gloves, the Automatics add lightweight Unobtanium knuckle protection to fend off brush and branches and keep your knuckles from looking like you've been in a street fight after a full day's worth of two-wheeled adventures.
The palms are made from Clarino synthetic leather, and it wraps up and over the inside of the thumbs as well. It's durable enough to give a long wear life and offer some serious abrasion protection, yet it's thin enough to translate the sensations of the grips and shifter paddles. The palm and fingers are dressed with silicone gripper material so you'll be able to unwrap your trailside snack or simply hang onto the handlebars through rough terrain without slipping.
The back of the hand is covered in Spandura, a blend of Spandex and Cordura. And as you might guess, the Spandura is both stretchy to ensure comfort and a positive fit, and it's super durable. The cuff is wrapped in Airprene, a neoprene that's super stretchy, soft, and flexible. It lacks a Velcro closure, but certainly isn't lacking, if you know what we mean. The Airprene cuff is both comfortable and form fitting due to its inherent stretchiness. Oakley includes a terry cloth section on the thumb that works great for wiping sweat out of your eyes just before you hit the hard sections of trail.
