Date Skied: 1/1, 1/2
Conditions: 1/1 (Spring, LSGR) 1/2 (Hardpack, Ice, Frozen Gran)
2 very different days at Okemo this New Years. Sunday was awesome. No Lines all day, warming into the mid 40's, soft snow all over the mountain. Visibility was a bit tough at times but the conditions felt like Early April so no complaints. Got comped a ticket so that was good as well. Best runs were on South Face in the AM and Jackson Gore in the afternoon with what they had open.
Yesterday was miserable. It rained hard Sunday night and then got cold so the mtn was a skating rink. Rock hard everywhere. Zero lift lines even when the Northstar shut down for a little while for a mechanical problem. Skied from south face over to Jackson Gore and back trying to find something that was workable but it just wasn't happening. The groomed trails were actually worse as the cord just froze solid and made it real difficult to do anything with.
$39 midweek "come back in January" voucher made it tolerable but easily the worst day of skiing so far this year.
From best day to worst day overnight---shows what January rain and sharp cool down can do to a mtn.
