Old PC games

I'm not gonna lie... I still have more fun playing old Dos games and 16 bit Win 3.1 games than I do playing brand new games.

Some of my favorites:

Descent
Epic Pinball
In Search of Dr. Riptide
Heretic
Line Wars II
Curtis Cash
Dragon Tales
Chip's Challenge
Six Feet Under

But here's my problem... I can't find any references online to Six Feet Under (all I can find relates to the TV show). Has anyone else heard of it? I used to have a demo copy of it, but I seem to have misplaced it.

Anyone else still play old games? I'm running DosBox on XP, and running Windows 3.1 through DosBox. So I'm running an operating system in an emulated operating system on an operating system. Maybe I should install DosBox on Windows 3.1 in Dosbox in Windows XP. And then install Windows 3.1 on that. And repeat 100 times. :wink:

I found a redux of Scorched Earth that runs on XP.

Still looking for a newer Gorilla Wars, man those QBasic games rocked!

I got one of these joystick thingy's for like $25 that plays about 20 old Atari games. They have another that plays all the old Intellivision games. I'm still playing those.. Yes, I know I'm old.

I like the XBox360 in HD.... Halo,NHL,Madden,Splinter Cell tight now..

Grew up with Pong... For years.. there was only Pong...

On the Palm i play Dope Wars, Tetris, minesweeper...

I love QBasic. I actually wrote a Pong game in QBasic three years ago. I started writing a Mario game based on the NES version, but QBasic just takes too long.

Agreed, I never even went beyond Civ 1. Love to get a copy of that again. I have Colonizaton which is pretty good.

I liked all of those Sid Meyer Microprose games, Railroad Tycoon and Pirates were pretty cool.

Yeah, the Sierra games were a lot of fun. LSL in the Land of the Lounge Lizards was a hoot.

Anyone else play "Leather Goddesses of Phobos?" text adventure similar to Zork, but with a real twisted sense of humor..

I loved Scroched Earth. We used to waste tons of hours in Pascal class playing that while the teacher was out on a bender. Good times.

Can you PM me the link where you found it, or is it an "ancient Chinese secret"?

We used to love playing A-Train (made by Maxis), kind of a pre-SimCity type of empire building game. Also loved Doom, Doom II, and Duke Nukem, especially networked with two or three other machines. Wolfenstein 3D was another fave. I probably have some of those still burned to a CD or even on 3.5 or 5.25 floppies if I look hard enough.

Space Quest...I think that was he name of it. Came on a 5-1/4" floppy. HEH! Had to get off the space ship, with al the right stuff, beore the ship blew up (and without getting killed by the aliens who took over the ship). THen you had to pilot the escape pod to some moon...make it through some caves to an oasis town, win enough money playing slots, buy the right hover craft...man that was a real time-eater.

Another not-so-famous one-disker was "Gato". It was a class of sub. Had to sink ships without getting sunk yourself.

Last one...and it's been so long I can't remember the name...Aircraft carrier game. You flew off the deck and hunted down ships and other targets. Getting back to the carrier AND sticking the landing was tough.
