Are there any toll roads between DIA and Frisco? I'm reading DIA car rental company reviews and there's alot of chatter about transponder rip-offs. Something like the rental companies want you to pay an upfront fee or there's a much larger fee if the transponder pings at all during your trip.

I guess I've never hit a toll booth with a rental car because this is new to me.
Which company are you renting from?

I don't get why you should be penalized. If they don't want the transponder to firedd when the car is in the renter's hands, why put one in there to begin with???

Haven't committed and probably won't till I get there.

Google Yelp reviews of Dollar and Thrifty at the Denver airport. Interesting stuff but people post more to complain than to praise. The toll thing just threw me. I imagine putting a transponder in there is simply a fee generator.

Tolls? Transponders? I've rented many many cars over the last 12 years during ski season from DIA with no problems including Dollar and Thrifty. There are no tolls from DIA to Summit county, Vail or BC. Don't know what they're talking about with transponders? Never seen or heard anything about that. Those people are morons posting on Google Yelp! Getting in and out of DIA and getting to your car rental and getting on the highway is a piece of cake.

As others have said, the toll road is not on the way to ski country.

Renting a car is a piece of cake, DIA is a good airport.

There are no transponders on 470, a camera scans the plate, I imagine it links to the rental company. I drove it once and simply got a bill in the mail. Unless going to Fort Collins this road should be avoided as its VERY expensive. It's easily avoidable and not worth the premium.
