Ok heres the deal my girlfriend and myself are going to park city feb 22-27th we DO NOT have the trip booked yet, she is a intermediate skier and wants to do the whole park city thing and that means our options will be deer valley, Park city and the canyons for skiing as we are not going to rent a car.. Hey its not snowbird or Alta but when you live in Florida you go when you can and i know they will still be great skiing at those mountains. ANyone have any lodging experiences here? We dont wanna break the bank so if were not staying at one of those 3 resorts, we have no problem staying somewhere within a few miles thats on a shuttle route. We would like to stay in a non hotel setting if possible although i know some of the hotels are nice, looking for the quaint , couples experience here, any info or help would be great as either of us have never been out there.

Any place in the Park City/Kimball Junction area will be close to all 3 of the PC area resorts (for example, I have a timeshare in the base area of The Canyons, which is the furthest North of the 3 PC areas (Deer Valley is the furthest South) and the drive from The Canyons to Deer Valley is 10 minutes tops(and that's asuming that I inevitably hit a few red lights), so all 3 are close and all 3 are on the bus route which is very efficient in PC.

Lodging wise, lots of any style accomodation you could want from literally 10+ bedroom, 10,000 sq. ft. mega homes at Deer Valley and the Colony development at The Canyons on down to 30+ year old small condos in down town Park City. If you can find a place in your desired price range along Main Street in Park City (and there's a bunch of condos/townhouses/hotels and even a couple of B&B's as I recall there) you'll likely find a great balance between easy access to all 3 resorts, lots of walking distances shops and restaurants, and just a very fun resort like setting there.

All 3 of the resorts in the PC area offer a ton of great intermediate skiing, and all 3 have their own personalty too. Deer Valley for all its accolades and superlatives that many use to describe it will for many exceed any preconceived expectations that one might have prior to their 1st visit there, my wife and I really enjoy skiing there as it's a great combo of terrain, lifts, and customer service as good as any where.

Park City Mountain Resort, IMHO is the most "touristy" feel of the 3, but that being said there tons of great intermediate crusing terrain, especially once you get out of the main base area via the Payday 6-pack.

The Canyons tends to have the most polarizing effect on people, with folks either loving it or hating it. Just a different layout to the place - need to take a lift out of the base area just to get into the real terrain and then you can easily spend the rest of the day just traversing around the place, so if you're not carefull at the end of the day it can seem like you've basically just skied connecting cat tracks instead of actual terrain. For intermediate good stuff there, either stay to the right as you look at the map in the Super Condor/Sun Peak area, or stay mid to left in the Tombstone or Dreamscape/Daybreak areas

Enjoy, because PC is one impressive ski town with just a massive amount of terrain at your doorstep!

I can highly recommend the Imperial Hotel (more like a B&B than hotel) at the end of Main Street if you're looking for a cozy place with very yummy breakfast.

As for Park City vs. Snowbird/Alta, the skiing itself may not be quite as good, but the town itself is a much cooler place to stay than somewhere on the Salt Lake bench.

If you're looking for a Condo you might try www.vrbo.com. We've generally found pretty good deals, at least compared to usual resort sources. One was near The Canyons, I think the development was call Red Pine. We liked it, but there a tons of condo developments around the area so I wouldn't necessarily focus on this particular development. It was near a bus stop. PC has lots to offer and there is tons of intermediate skiing between the 3 local areas. There is or was at least one van service that took folks from PC to the Cottonwoods Canyons resorts. It was a combined lift ticket plus transportation. Alta is pretty intermediate friendly and is quite a different experience than the PC resorts. In PC we had a great Buffalo burger at the No Name Saloon without spending tons of cash. The brews at Wasatch Brew Pub are very good with good pub grub. Have a great trip.

Totally agree with the VRBO search. Lots of condos available in PC area, have stayed in Red Pine and others. Lots of variety in price, convenience, amenities, but I'm sure you can find something that suits you. We usually opt for staying near Canyons, shuttle to downtown is convenient. Have done trips with and without car and it's easy to get where you need to. Have fun!!

Wife and I did a long weekend (Thursday - Sunday) two years ago in Park City. Had a great time. We stayed in a condo at the Canyons and as others said, access is super-easy to all the mountains from wherever you stay. We rented an SUV and drove but there are buses too.

My wife is a pure blue skier and loved the skiing. We both favored Park City Resort as it seemed to have a little of everything (plus we had a great powder day there). Didn't like Deer Valley but only spent a half a day there. Caynons had some parts we liked and others we didn't (some parts you feel like you are skiing through a housing development.

We would go back in heartbeat.
