Resort or Ski Area: Pat's Peak

Conditions: cloudy, 30, soft snow , bumps

Trip Report: Knew it'd be crowded but headed to Pat's Peak today. Was just Jake and me as the rest of the skiers decided to skip it today.

Crowded parking lot greeted us, followed by a crowded lodge. Lifts were crowded also but managable.

Could tell it was a holiday weekend by the way people were dressed and how they handled the lifts. Saw lots of people skiing in jeans, a few with their ski pants tucked into their boots and quite a few people falling off the chair as they got on. all of which made me laugh (sorry).

Skied every open trail excluding the beginner area. They had bumps on Hurricane which we skied a few times, both Jake's and my pick of the day. FIS racing trail was good too, i liked the snow conditions, soft and spring like.

Thought snow in general was much better than yesterday, not too much ice.

I was also there in the morning...decided to get out soon after 1PM though, had done enough runs and the crowds were getting to be too much for me and the family.

I was concerned that the conditions would be firm but they were fine early on and only got better as the day went on. Only saw a few icy patches. Their "glades" were a bit scratchy but they were quite edgeable. All of the lifts were running so the lift lines were small to non-existent.

I finally went down Hurricane today, but I would not call what I did down the trail skiing...kind of hard to manage the bumps when one's bump skills are non-existent. At least I only fell twice. Was expecting to get some abuse from people on the lift but I lucked out. My son also went down Hurricane, but he managed quite well considering that he isn't a bump skier either.

Right where I want to be
Got there at noon today because kids had sunday school. Only did 6 runs. Peak double and triple were the worst i have seen them all year. Vortex chair was pretty empty until evryone realized it was at around 2:30. Hurricane was actually pretty good. Went to the bar at that point to watch a little football. Wife and oldest stayed out for 3 more runs
