Conditions: PP, moderately 'firm'
Course: Twister
Gates: Twisty
Our first somewhat technical course of the season... so far most had been pretty straightforward, tonight was more what we's seen in years past: a course that punishes you if you don't ski clean. Amazingly enough, that seemed to be just what we needed: the AZ team finished first for the night! In fact, all our point scorers were on the first page, pretty sure that's never happened before. We're still on the bubble for Monday nights (6th), so we've still certainly got to keep it up to make the finals - several notables (Vlad) were not in attendance tonight.
I was late, so no chance to actually ski before racing. Course was a more traditional Twister, with a good cranker just before the flat section. Apparently the more technical setup worked, since only one platinum placed. I screwed up just before the last pitch, then went a bit aggressive and caught a gate to the kneecap - wow did that hurt.
K wasn't just the fastest woman, but was the fastest on our team as well!
Bob didn't feel on, but still placed well.
Ga2ski always cleans up with the tele bonus
I'm back where I should be, finishing middle of the pack and taking up the rear in points for the team (until I get older...)
Big thanks to ga2ski for ditching domestic duties and making it out, then tearing out the toe piece of his hammerheads (I swear he skied faster pissed off on one ski ). Also thanks to the Pats techs who helicoiled it for him. Class act. And skibum9995 for excellent timing, arriving just in time to line up. Pretty sure if he had time to get the speed suit on we'd have another half point.
got a couple runs on the slalom course on FIS, which we gaped up worse than the HS kids.
Oh, and Bob got a funbag!
