Trip Report: Great couple days @ Pico. Got to the mountain @ 1:45 on Saturday after spending the early morning/afternoon at the Chowderfest in Saratoga Springs, NY (highly recommended for soup lovers). I got on the snow at 2:00 and caught the last summit chair @ 4:10. Sunny and great visibility, amazing views from the peak, but I didn't bring my camera. Had an excellent dinner at Choices on the access road and called it a night. I caught third chair this morning and stayed until about 11:30, then had to get going home. Great conditions this morning....Upper KA was sweet, Summit Glades pretty good, and the trees were amazing. Some of the most obvious tree areas were still untracked. It seemed like I was just hitting the 5" they received on Friday night/ Saturday morning, but everytime I hit some steep terrain or ripped a big arcing turn I could cut into the denser 20" that fell earlier in the week. Lots of natural terrain bumped up, nice soft surfaces on all trails. I didn't hit up Upper Pike because my favorite part of it (skier's right) was scraped down to grass and the rock bands...Upper Giant Killer was open but the entrance looked horrible and I didn't want to waste the little precious time I had on a trail that wasn't in its best shape. Had a killer breakfast at Sugar and Spice on the way out. Great couple of days, even though I didn't get a "full" day in either day. Some pics:
riding up the summit chair this am
upper pike (scraped on the left, bumped up on the right)
pico peak
unmarked summit trees
deep summit trees
unmarked mid mountain trees
clouds starting to lift later in the morning at the peak
