If you're looking for a place to bring the family skiing for a half day, Pico seems to be one of the best deals around.
First time skiing there. Didn't really find any bumps. Bronco looked like it had some nice lines, but didn't get a chance to ski it. Lots of grass showing at the Outpost Double Chair. The kids had a great time on Forty Niner (nice snow too). It branches off and joins back together several times. Other areas would probably give it 5 different trail names.
On the last run I went solo and traversed across Upper Giant Killer. It was open, but conditions were marginal to say the least (see photo below). Ran into a friendly local and hit that power line "trail". Sweet run. Narrow, steep and narrow. Cut into some tight trees that openened up into a birch grove where nice turns were had.
Just like MRG last week...great snow to be found just off the beaten path.
