Thinking of taking my sons, 8 and 10, to Pico over a weekend. Each of us has skied only a few times. We've been on Bonanza, and had no problems our first time out, but didn't see much else. Now I'm looking for info on how appropriate the other greens might be for us. Each of us has plowing down to an art, and working in parallel turns, etc. Any and all thoughts welcome.

Triple Slope off the Knome's Knoll Triple is probably a good step up.

Gold Rush off the Golden Express is probably okay for you, as would Bushwacker off the Little Pico Triple (If it's open...I believe it's nat snow for the upper section.

Thataway into Goldrush could make for a nice run......if the Outpost Double was ever run......

That's about it for your options.

I agree. Start with Gnome's Knoll, then Golden Express. Those runs off the lower HSQ are all great, but there is no real good "easy intermediate" run off the top.

Well, back in the day, there actually was a quasi-easier run down off the top. Easy Street was a switchback run (the service road mainly) that zig-zagged across 49er, Sunset, and KA.

And at one time, 49er was a black diamond.

Here you can see the "easy way down," which is no more. This is from teachski's site (1992-1993 map):
