Figured the crowds would be nuts everywhere else so off to plattekill I go..brought the GF..she lodges very well. The place was busy., about as busy as it gets..which means a 2 minute wait..or none when you ski with the ski patrol...line cutting privelages are nice but not even needed here as most people ride the triple. With 4 inches of new overnight and 18 inches the week before..which was untouched since friday I would say this place might have had the best conditions...on the east coast..maybe??? Absolutely no ice at all which is more then I can say for my favorite place...yes it gets a little thin on the bumped up runs..but Blockbuster was pretty deep and plunge had the best moguls.
Stayed at a super BB in Fleishmans an old converted mansion called Breezy Hill..this place was 4 star, incredible interior and grounds...and the food in the morning was super. Hit Platt again Monday and it was empty..and stayed that way all day..never more than 5 people on a run at a time. Only bummer was my $180.00 Oakly goggles broke..but they are fixable..gave me 5 years so far so can't complain.....

Nice, looks like you made a good choice. Is the T-Bar bar and B&B still there? I stayed there about 20 years ago and it was right across the street if I remember correctly.

We were there yesterday, between the three of us posting, we were probably half the mountain.
A couple of comments, interested in your thoughts:
I have never seen blockbuster groomed before. I guess this to lay down a good base for the rest of the season?
I come away with one frustration, and the first time i was not completely pleased with our experience at Plattekill. After shelling out $150 or so for me and our two boys to ski for the day, i came to realize there was a value pass that offered a free day, plus further discounts for return visits - for about the same price as a full day lift ticket. When I returned to the window to ask why i didnt buy this, i was told "you didnt ask" and she pointed to a 3x5 card taped to the window with fine print describing the offer.
I guess standing outside in negative 4 degrees with my kids, I needed to inspect every word of print before handing over a good amount of cash to ski for the day.
I am not saying i dont expect to spend dough to ski. But, if i am looking for clever, adversarial, "gotcha" customer service, I can drive south to manhattan rather than north for the weekends.
After all, the value card is just intended to get you back to the mountain.
Maybe she had me pinned, because we fully intend to return, despite this experience. Hopefully we will make it back when blockbuster has developed decent bumps - making it perhaps our favorite run anywhere. The lodge reflected steady, thoughtful improvements. The slopes were in great shape particularly for this time of year. Its an outstanding spot for our whole family to challenge ourselves and the complete lack of crowds will remain a mystery to me.

I didn't know about the card either until my friend who is a patroler pointed it out to me..I've been going there for 10 years...blockbuster now has snowmaking so they have to groom it out to spread it out..before it was rocks ,ice ,and moguls most times..big improvement but I kinda miss the gnarly factor it had...the T bar is thankfully gone replaced by a double...
