Anyone else trying to skim a pond this year?

Sounds like Sugarbush was last weekend and it was COLD.

I'll be at Burke's event this Saturday. Just watch for:

Couple of friends of mine did it at Camelback Pa two weeks ago. Warm day so the pond was open. One made it the other didn't. You said Sugarbush had theirs last weekend and it was cold. (I know I was up in NNY and it was cold) About 3 years ago Camelback had theirs and the night before it snowed 17-inches and the pond was literally freezing over at the event. Needless to say it wasn't much of a contest as just about everyone had no diffculty getting over.

Not 100% certain yet, but I've been putting a plan together for Wachusett's Pond Skim Party this Sunday 4/3.

Hunter just sent an email - Pond Skimming is postponed until April 9th due to cold temps and a POWDER ALERT

They expect 8-10 inches of snow Friday

Does anyone else do an elimination style competion like Burke? It works this way: if you make it across the pond you move on to the next round but they move you down the slope closer to the pond (=less speed). This process typically continues for 4-6 rounds with the last round resulting a champion who made it the furthest across the pond.

Or is everywhere else a One-and-done?

I have actually never ever tried it. I suck at waterskiing. I'm going to go watch some youtube videos on how it's done.

It is far easier than you think, at least if you have a bit of speed and the pond isn't designed with a "Drop" in.

This is me a few years ago in a late round (I was robbed ):

So like I said, I did it a Jiminy this year. I wore my helmet cam, another helmet cam on my ankle, and had a friend take some pics. Here is a quick vid I made(first time editing anything). Dont make fun of it as i am not very good on the editing.

It was great standing on the side watching people after my run. they all come down so confident with huge smile. As soon as they get to the water, you see the look of horror on there face from the cold!

I didnt think i was going to make it across, so i just went to the side and sprayed people.
