i was over there in early nov. trying to hike it, but the acess road had a rope across it with a no tress. sign, i doubt they will plow the road or take down the rope and the sign as im sure they dont want their equip taken. but i have been thinking about parking there and skinning in after a big storm.

Greylock...

If you are interested in Greylock, buy the Meathead film 'EPOCH'. It has some cool footage of the Mount Greylock Thunderbolt trail. I'd like to ski it sometime this year as well. Also, I always wanted to hike Powder Ridge on some skinny XC skiis and then bomb down. I feel like the skinny skiis would make it more challenging and more fun.

I did that years ago at Powder Ridge but I cheated and took the lift up. Must have been 1978-1980 and at that time I didn't know how to downhill ski but I would XC anywhere. Sometimes we'd take a small connecting trail from the summit of Powder ridge over through Lyman orchards otherwise we'd come straight down the "downhill" trails. Not too difficult and you probably could bomb them straight down. The best part was they'd sell us a XC trail pass that let us use the lifts at about 1/2 the cost of downhill skiers.
