Scott reports at SkiVT-L that thanks to a slip and fall on ice injury (potential ACL/MCL tears) which happened outside the Stowe Gondi building yesterday he is out of action. Not only can't he ski, he can't walk. Going in for scans today.

Couldn't happen to a nicer guy, at a worse time of year. - Vibes to you Scott - wishing you a speedy recovery!

I think he goes by the screen name of "powderfreak" not "powderhound".

Anyway, I'm sorry to hear about the injury. Hope you recover soon, Scott, so you can enjoy this great ski season ahead of us.

Indeed. I'll fix the thread title.

Sorry to hear about your injury Scott. I've always appreciated your contributions here. I hope those continue while you recover. Get better soon!

Thanks everyone for the kind words. I'm definitely bumming right now. The snow was so good yesterday and with storms lined up, we are probably in for a great week of skiing across the board.

MRI is scheduled for tomorrow. Crossing my fingers that its not a full rip of both ligaments and that maybe its just a really bad sprain (been told that can heal in 4 weeks). It does worry me that I cannot walk or put any pressure on it without excruciating pain, but we'll find out tomorrow.

The Good news is that now my weather forecasts are going to become an almost daily thing as I play armchair quarterback for the next several weeks. I am thankful that I love meteorology almost as much as I love skiing, so as long as I have an internet connection and active wx I'll be fine ;)

My father's coming up to get me and bring me back to Albany this afternoon, as I live in a third floor apartment which is a problem when you cant walk. I'll likely be getting medical treatment down there, too. I'm actually excited a little bit because I-90 (BUF-ALB-BOS) is close to the sweet spot for Friday's storm though I think max snowfall will be just south of I90.

I know we have a lot of CT posters here but you're gonna get walloped in a 6-8 hour blitz on Friday afternoon. I'll try to get a forecast out tonight once I'm settled in Albany.

Hope as your hoping that it's just one hell of a sprain and you're back enjoying on pow days in a few weeks!

Now we just need to work on the injury story for 'ya. Slipped and fell outside the Gondi @ Stowe doesn't sound sound nearly as cool as "took a major digger OFF the waterfall under the Gondi @ Stowe!" ;) ;)

Sorry to hear about the injury Scott. I hope it's not too serious and you get healed up quick. I always look forward to your TRs and forecasts.

I'm also happy to hear that you're going along with the CT getting hammered scenario that's setting up. So toked! :snow:

From one healing guy to another, I pass on Big time healing vibes!!! I will really miss your trip reports with pictures, as that gets me through the lean skiing times. Enjoy Christmas with your family, and heal up for 09!!

Damn, sorry to hear that. Just getting ready to get back on the snow after my ACL tear in March. Hope you just tweaked things. There is an ACL rehab thread in misc if you feel like digging it up . . .

Hoping for the best Scott! My wife hurt her knee last week and went for a scan yesterday at work. (workd in the medical field). She can walk, it's just sore. Here's to hopping it's just a major strain/sprain.

Thanks for the CT storm update!

Oh......bad news. All my thoughts for a speedy recover and return to some of the best trip reporting/ski photography around!

So how do we get hooked up with your weather forcasting?
